We read reviews prior to coming to this place on a rare date night and were excited to try it. Though it was a big football night and the restaurant was not crowed, we (with reservations) were placed at a first-come bar area where we were subjected to the usual loud chatter of people falling over themselves to be impressive to their bar-mates. Most of the dining tables were open, but we were not able to move. Overall, the food is not bad, especially for someone on major salt and flavor restrictions. The food is hardly seasoned. My wife had a beef tenderloin that was good. I had a flounder over Hoppin-john which was about what I could do on my grill at home. The beer was room temperature; the service was almost non-existent - although we did see our server lavish attention on folks who appeared to be regulars. A couple of friends we ran into on the way said basically the same thing. I felt like they were doing us a favor by serving us. Bottom line - for the level of service and quality of food, we'd probably come back if this place was priced at low-end chain-type pricing like a Logan's or Olive Garden. But for the very high prices they charge, we'd rather go to a real professional restaurant like Highland's, Bottega, Hot and Hot or Dupont's.

The food was excellent, though portion sizes for my party's 3 entrees varied from gigantic (fried shrimp and oysters) to tiny (steak). Seems like the size of the portion is inversely proportional to the price. My steak was the most expensive, and though excellent, it was quite small. With the steak, I received about five quarter to half-dollar-sized potato slivers, and about 1/4 of a small salad portion. I laughed at the waiter when he brought the plate, asking if he was joking. His return glare was not friendly. One thing takes this easy 4-star restaurant and brings it down to 3-stars at a stretch - noise. Tons of it. The place was apparently designed to be louder than a train. No soft surfaces at all. Now, I enjoy a lively dinner, and I usually prefer the vibrant atmosphere of busy, noisy restaurants. Dyron's, however, was absurd. I couldn't hear my guests unless I leaned over the table and asked them to yell. And I mean yell, well above loud inside voice. Most of our conversation was , "I'm sorry", or "Could you repeat that?", followed by, "What? I'm sorry I couldn't hear you." The restaurant wasn't even full. I can only imagine what it is like when all the tables are busy. In summary, only go here when you need good food, but DO NOT want to talk to your guests. Conversation is impossible! And it is seriously expensive for dinner, considering.

Food - Great .. Cocktails - Crap .. Service - Terrible I wouldn't say I know everything about the service industry, but being a server and a hostess myself in the past I do know some of the proper etiquette in turning tables over quickly. It took our server 15 minutes to even come to our table and welcome us and take drink orders. It then took another 25 to get our beverages, another 20 before she came and took our orders (didn't write anything down), and we didn't see her until she brought our food an hour later. We ordered a 'shareable side' that she forgot to ring in, and we were already more than half way finished with our meals when she comes over to see if the side had come, and it had not. She apologized and said it would be on the house, but when they came we were ready for the check. (Meanwhile, during all of this, our server has checked on the table right next to us numerous times throughout their evening.) She took our plates and again it took 15 minutes to get our check. Shame. Probably won't be back.

This was our first visit. This place had a very nice ambiance. Our waitress Carrier was awesome. She made some great recommendations for our meal. I had the pheasant and my wife had the pork porterhouse. Our meal took a little long but our waitress brought us a delicious wedge salad with buttermilk dressing. That was by far one of the best salads we ever had. Our dinner came and WOW. The pheasant with freshly made pasta was out of this world. I also tried the porterhouse and it was just as tasty and so tender. We then topped it off with the bread pudding. Crunchy on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside. Our waitress made our first visit outstanding. We will be back.

We went on New Year's Eve with a couple friends - our third time overall - and they were very accommodating when we had to alter our reservation party size the night before. Prompt, attentive (but not too attentive), friendly service. Good alcohol, wine and beer selection. I had the buttermilk fried chicken and although it was not quite what I expected (bone-in) it was delicious. You really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The decor and ambiance is welcoming and comfortable. Great place for a special occasion or just a weekend night out. Everyone we have brought to Dyron's has loved it! One of our favorite restaurants in Birmingham. We will keep coming back!

Excellent seafood. Locally sourced food, which is a big plus. Service (both hostess and waiter) was slow at our Sunday brunch, which accounts for me giving only four stars. Food def gets a five out of five!

.@Dyrons_Bham Only the second time we have been here. First time was after dinner elsewhere for a couple glasses of wine. This time we had reservations. Seating was OK booth close to the bar which could of been crowded if it had been like the last time we were there. But tonight it was not as bad. Started out with a wedge salad for my wife and I had the Fall Mushroom & Leek Soup Black Trumpets, Porcinis, Shitakes, Truffle Oil Soup was very good esp on a cold November night. Mushrooms and leeks blended to a nice puree. Main course was for @tfergette Hickory Grilled Hereford Beef Tenderloin Buttery Mashed Potatoes, Wilted Spinach, Applewood Smoked Bacon, Crabmeat Hollandaise which was very good. I had Buttermilk Fried Tanglewood Farms Chicken Farmer's Market Collard Greens, Smoked Cheddar Mac & Cheese, Pan Gravy. They were both very good and too much too eat at one sitting. We took half of each entree home and left very satisfied. Dessert was Warm Chocolate Molten Cake Cappuccino Ice Cream which we split. The staff was very attentive and our water glass was always full and when our wine got low a refill was always on the way. All in all a very nice date night Expect to spend a few coins but coins well spent.

Went on a Sunday for brunch. Bloody Mary was from a mix. A good mix, but still. Slow but friendly service. I much prefer dinner to brunch here. The menu is small and not all that appealing. I got fried oysters over mixed greens. It all came on top of a weird egg scallion patty. Not my favorite dish from dyrons. Stick with shrimp and grits or chicken and biscuits.

An upscale neighborhood bar and restaurant that provides a wide variety of appetizers and entries. I tried the lamb shank which was outstanding. Started off with the blue point oysters which I would recommend. This is a great place to meet friends or for a family gathering.

I have always liked Dyron's but had not been in awhile. The menu has been updated and the food is absolutely delicious! Several of our group had the veal Scallopine topped with crab meat and served with plenty of delicious vegetables. Service was great. The enclosed deck is a wonderful addition.

Our first try for this fairly new establishment. Sorry to say that it did not meet with the high expectations we had. They just missed a lot of the things that really nice restaurants get right. The seating along the wall is out of balance. The bench seat on the wall is too high for the table and places diners across the table at a wierd angle. The dining room was uncomfortably hot when we arrived. The hostess told us that it had gotten too cold a few minutes before so, they had turned the heat on in the dining room but would turn it off now. It seems like they could have found a way to get a somewhat consistent temp... We only tried 2 dishes, my wife had the Grits w/Blue Crab. The "citrus" grits were just not a good fit for the crab. Some of the other grits pairings might be better just not this one. I had the crab cake entree. It was really good. The cakes were crunchy on the outer crust and still tender on the inside. The sauce was nice as were the asparagus and flavored rice. We will most likely give Dyron's another try but will be certain to either sit at a table or at the bar.

My husband and I love going to Dyron's for their Sunday brunch. Everything from the grits to dessert has been wonderful everytime. Last time we went the crab cakes benedict was great with a perfectly poached egg and wonderfully cooked asparagus. I've had the citrus grits at dinner and thought they were wonderful. It's not a combination you would expect, but it works. All 4 of us at the table tasted them and loved them. The bananas foster for dessert is a must! I've also sat at one of the benches, and I didn't find them awkward at all.
